Alice Meets the Queen of Hearts

After leaving the tea party,
Alice carefully walked out of the forest.
She entered a large garden.

The garden looked like a maze.
The ground was covered with red rose vines.

But something was strange.
She saw card soldiers painting white roses red.

"Why are you painting the roses red?" Alice asked quietly.

One of the soldiers whispered, "Shh!
The Queen hates white roses!
If she finds out, we’ll be in big trouble!"

Just then, a loud bell rang in the distance.
The soldiers stood up straight.
The Queen of Hearts was coming.

She wore a red dress with black decorations.
A golden crown sparkled on her head.
Her eyes were sharp, and everyone looked nervous.

The Queen shouted, "Who planted white roses here?!"

Everyone bowed their heads.
Alice stepped back and stayed silent.

Then the Queen looked right at Alice.

"You! I’ve never seen you before. What’s your name?"

"I’m Alice," she answered carefully.

The Queen stared at her, then raised her hand.

"Good! See you at the croquet field!"

The Queen’s Croquet Game

Alice arrived at the Queen’s castle.
She was invited to play croquet.

But the game was very strange!
Instead of balls, they used live hedgehogs.
Instead of mallets, they used flamingos.

The card soldiers stood as hoops,
but they kept moving around.

"This doesn’t make any sense!" Alice shouted.

Whenever the Queen got angry,
she would yell, "Off with her head!"

Alice had to be very careful.

Then, the Cheshire Cat appeared again.

"Be careful," he said.
"The Queen gets angry easily."

Alice listened and finished the game safely.

The Queen’s Trial

Suddenly, the Queen called for a trial.
Someone had stolen her tarts!

The White Rabbit was the clerk.
The Mad Hatter and March Hare were witnesses.

Alice watched the trial,
but then her body started to grow again.

"This trial is nonsense!" she said.

The Queen was furious.
"Off with her head!" she shouted.

But now Alice was huge.
The card soldiers couldn’t stop her.

"This is just a dream! None of this is real!"

Everything around her began to shake and disappear.

Waking Up

Alice opened her eyes.
She was lying on the grass.

Everything was back to normal.

She smiled and said,
"What a strange dream… but it was fun!"

Far away, she heard her sister calling.
Alice looked up at the sky one last time,
then stood up with a smile.
